Donate Your Time - Become a volunteer

What it is to be a Helping Hands Volunteer?

Are you wanting to give your time and heart to a great organization? People volunteer at Helping Hands for a variety of reasons. For the married couple who wants to give their time to a charity, to the widow who lost a spouse and needs to fill a void or make a friend. Making friends and becoming part of a large family is easily done at Helping Hands! You will develop friendships that will last a lifetime and your generous donation of time helps us reduce employee costs thereby allowing for a greater percentage of our proceeds to be put back into the community.

We have more 145 volunteers and we need each and every one of them. While we have a great group of volunteers we are always in need of additional volunteers. Additional volunteers allow us to not only save more money in employee cost, but also allow us to display and sell greater amounts of products through our thrift store.

In a nut shell, the more volunteers we have, the more effectively we are able to run our business, which means greater amounts of money available to provide for this community. Helping Hands was founded by volunteers and is still supervised by a volunteer board, which consist of representatives of each of the 23 partner churches.

We are looking for men and women who can help in the furniture department, in receiving, in the book department, on the sales floor, in fabrics and jewelry and at the register; either cashiering or packing purchases. We need volunteers for all areas of the store, and we offer low maintenance jobs for those who can’t stand for long periods of time. If you would like to volunteer, we have something here for you! Just ask our volunteers who have been giving of their time and talents for more than 20 years.

Helping Hands is not just a place to give your time. It’s a family; a group of people with different talents, strengths and reasons for volunteering but we do all share one goal. Our goal is to help make life better for everyone in Benton County who need our help. Helping Hands was founded by volunteers and we would not be the company we are today without them.

Bulk Volunteer Programs

Group of volunteers for team building

Corporate & Private Group Volunteering

Many local businesses and corporations will have programs for group volunteering which can earn capital for your favorite local charity. We’ve had group participation from companies such as JB Hunt, Walmart & their vendors, church groups, real estate agents, eagle scouts, and so many more. They’ll do this as team-building exercises and to support local causes.

If you are interested in this, talk to your HR department about starting a program at work, or look into groups that already exist in your area. You can also contact us about setting something up!

Walmart group volunteer program

SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Walmart Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP)

VAP is a nation-wide Walmart initiative that encourages employees to volunteer in their local communities. By doing so the organizations they volunteer with are eligible to receive grants. They have both Event VAP and Individual VAP, so that even a single person can make a big difference. This is an easy way to both give back and get rewarded!

A Huge Thank You To Walmart For Your Generosity!

We’d like to express our gratitude to Walmart. They have been a critical partner in our fight against hunger and homelessness through our assistance programs. Walmart continues to increase its financial, food, and volunteer support through hundreds of volunteer hours each year. Their contribution continues to make a substantial difference in what we’re capable of doing. Thank you.
